Job Ref: 1797
My client is a leading, fast-growing ed-tech company, based in the heart of Sheffield. They are excited about growing their reach and are now seeking an exceptional Product Manager to join the team and share that ambition.
As Product Manager, you will be responsible for evaluating new opportunities to enhance the product - whether this be on the core site, online, classroom or mobile apps.
You will work closely with your squad (which will include developers, product designers and marketers) to determine what gets built and delivered to customers - leading your team in generating the backlog. You and your team will not be assessed on output (i.e. what gets developed) but on the outcome of the products and features developed - the business impact they have.
Build Deep Knowledge of the Customer: You will become an acknowledged expert on the customer: their issues, pains, desires and how they think. This requires both qualitative learning (to understand why our users behave the way they do) and quantitative (to understand what they are doing).
Build Deep Knowledge of the Data: You will need to be outstanding with data and analytics to understand how the users are engaging with the product. You will need to engage with A/B test results and our site’s metrics to gain visibility on this behaviour, as well as building this into the product as we move forward.
Build Deep Knowledge of the Business and Strong Relationships: You will need to develop a deep understanding of the business, how it works and where your product fits within the company’s offering. Internally, this means knowing all stakeholders, what motivates them and the constraints they operate under. Succeeding in your role will mean convincing each key stakeholder that you understand their constraints and that you are committed to only delivering solutions that you believe are consistent with those constraints.
Build Deep Knowledge of our Market: You will need to develop deep knowledge of this market and industry. This includes not only the competitors, but also key trends in technology, customer behaviour and expectations, following the relevant industry analysts and understanding the role of social media for the market and customers.
● Minimum of 2 years experience of working as a digital Product Manager.
● A proven track record of building successful products - taking product ideas from research to shipped releases, iterating on releases to deliver continued improvements.
● Strong, proven analytics experience - including in database queries, SQL (previous use of Cluvio would be beneficial). ● Experience running A/B tests, conducting market research, user behaviour tracking, etc.
● Experience collaborating and communicating with developers, any working knowledge at all of HTML and CSS is beneficial.
● A positive, driven work ethic and a commitment to building great relationships with colleagues.
You will be intellectually curious, a quick learner and able to apply new technologies to solve problems, reach new audiences or enable new business models.
You should be creative - able to think outside the box to solve problems.
You will be persistent - pushing people outside of their comfort zone by demonstrating compelling evidence, constantly communication and building bridges across functions in the face of stubborn resistance.
Problem Solver - Passion for solving problems and helping people.
Great Communicator - able to share openly, concisely and engagingly what you learn. Leader - able to build incredible relationships, facilitate effective collaboration and to motivate teams. Honest - able to assess, reflect and give insightful feedback, both good and bad.
