Lead Platform Engineer
Job Ref: 2325
We’re looking for a Lead Platform Engineer to head up a dynamic team of Infrastructure Engineers within one of our long-term FinTech clients.
What will you be doing?
Although this is a lead role, you’ll still be very much hands on and will be responsible for some extremely interesting, complex and highly technical deployment projects into some of the UK’s most well-known High Street Banks and Building Societies.
You’ll also design, develop and ultimately implement software defined infrastructure, whilst architecting appropriate deployment processes that, ideally, introduce automation. In addition, you’ll oversee system installation and configuration, look after numerous operating systems, databases, networks and firewalls.
What technical experience do you need?
As the Platform Team have very broad skill sets, its probably unrealistic to have experience across of the required technologies, the core of which are below. However, this means that you’ll need to be open minded and realistic about learning and working with technologies that are initially unfamiliar.
- Strong Linux background
- Deep knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally AWS but applicants with either Azure or Google Cloud experience should still apply
- Good exposure to automation configuration tools, such as Terraform and Ansible
- Competent with Networking, Load Balancing and TLS
- Knowledge of JEE application servers
- Hands-on experience delivering, deploying and implementing enterprise level software
- Strong stakeholder management. Ideally with good experience in a client facing, technical role
- Experience in a similar technical leadership capacity
- Knowledge of DevOps and Agile environments and methodologies
This opportunity will suit either an existing Lead Platform Engineer looking for a new challenge within financial services or a time served Platform Engineer looking for their next logical step in their career.
