Lead Java Developer
Affecto are working closely with an exceptional software business who are currently looking to onboard a Lead Java Developer into their expanding development team based in West Yorkshire.
As a Lead Java Developer, you will be primarily responsible for leading and mentoring an experienced team of highly-skilled developers. You will be responsible for application development and delivery of multiple projects across 3 main development teams. This role requires a varied hands off/ hands on approach, leading senior developers by example whilst mentoring new additions to the team to maximise their growth in the business.
You will be a highly organised, self-motivated individual who enjoys the challenge of problem-solving and working under pressure in an autonomous environment.
Understanding and driving the most suitable architecture and development approach to produce and implement functional healthcare software solutions
Ensuring software solutions are effectively aligned with user needs and business goals
Working collaboratively with lead developers to plan and develop high-quality software design and architecture
Identifying, prioritizing and delegating tasks to improve the software development lifecycle and coordinating the daily activity of the development teams
Mentoring new developers to maximise their potential and develop their skillsets within the business
Reviewing and updating technologies to ensure the development teams stay ahead of the curve
Management Skills/Experience Required
Experience of a similar senior position, leading an experienced development team
Ability to prioritise work and delegate effectively to team
Demonstrable ability to successfully introduce development best practices
Genuine interest in technological trends and developments within the healthcare provision
Exposure to such relevant technologies within the healthcare sector would be advantageous
Knowledge of web APIs, web services and web-oriented architectures (e.g. REST, JSON, XML, SOAP, JSON, WSDL)
In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL)
An understanding of big data processing (e.g. RabbitMQ, Redis, Cassandra, MongoDB, ElasticSearch)
Familiarity with various operating systems (e.g. Linux, Mac OS, Windows)
